There are musicians that hit that note deep down in you, the very first time you hear them. James Vincent McMorrow is one of them.

The man keeps on touching throughout all his music. In the true spirit of real Bon Iver-ish he takes the great genre of singer/songwriting to the next level.

The debut ”Early in The Morning” was released jan 25 by Vagrant Records in the US and will be available in europe march 7 via iTunes. I suggest you pick that album up. If you don’t want to miss out on a great album filled with that sweet sound that is James Vincent McMorrow.

Let´s face it. We are all dead horses. 4th of January Deadhorse released their new album. The post-rock-gang from Erie, Pennsylvania got something great going here. Love the tunes, love the ambient freakish sound, love the attitude.

The band is Brian Morgante, Seth Young, Rachel Shesman, Michael Messenger, Garrett Janos, and other talented people. Deadhorse often change their starting XI. It´s a rotating circus of deephearted and beautiful stuff.

I am completely blown away.

If you ever feel that things aren’t really rockin’, you know a dark and rainy sunday in november, you keep waiting for the clock to strike bedtime. Screw that. Get yourself a copy of Burning Your House Down, get the most fragile things out of the way, put it on, get it on.

The album has got soul, power, some-kind-of-insane-energetic-boogie-feel. I am sure that your sunday will change to the better. Much better.

If this doesnt get your rocks on, you should probably go to bed early.

Rock on. I know, it’s a cliche, but darn it rocks.

Thomas Denver Johansson, har släppt skiva under sitt nya namn: I’m Kingfisher. Skivan släpptes 18 oktober på nytt bolag, Playground Music (Koop, Jenny Wilson mfl).

Arctic är en skön saga med fantastiska melodier och drömska ljudlandskap. Gitarrer som bygger en känsla av hopp. Finns sköna kopplingar till tidiga singer/songwriters från en svunnen tid.

Öppningsspåret Willing Night Plants har fastnat i min iPod. Vägrar ge sig. Jag har inget emot det. Lutar mig mot fönstret och tittar ut i regnet. Vi connectar.

Kentuckyseven proudly presents, Al James from Dolorean.

The acclaimed Portland band Dolorean, came with their debut Not Exotic in 2003, The New York Times said in their review ”The songs gesture at folk and country, but they do it quietly and slowly, as if hesitant to disturb Mr. James’s delicate parables. And yet, despite the stillness, this is a wild, passionate album.” Since then Dolorean has released Violence in the Snowy Fields 2004, You Can’t Win in 2007, and now releasing their fourth album The Unfazed  in january 2011.

What are you listening to?

–  I mostly listen to music on my turntable early in the morning when I wake up or in the evening while I’m fixing dinner.  My favorite music right now is a combination of new and old records.  I love the new Deerhunter album Halcyon Digest, Gonjasufi – A Sufi and a Killer, Damien Jurado’s Saint Bartlett, Lightning Dust’s Infinite Light, Woods – At Echo Lake, and Kurt Vile – Constant Hitmaker.  The older re-issues I’m loving are Bob Desper – New Sounds, Ted Lucas – The Om Record, and Lazy Smoke’s Corridor of Faces.

Best book read during 2010?

– Man, I love to read but don’t get as much time to read as I’d like.  My favorite contemporary author is Willy Vlautin.  I love his most recent novel that came out in 2010 – Lean On Pete.  Definitely the best book this year.

Who deserves a breakthrough in 2011?

– To be honest, I hope Dolorean has a big year in 2011.  We’ve been working so hard for so long.  I really want to reach more people with our music next year.  In addition to Dolorean, I hope that Mara Miller’s band Bosque Brown has a great 2011.  She sang a duet with me on The Unfazed.  I’m a huge fan of her voice and her songs.  She definitely deserves a bigger audience.

Har nog haft lite problem med psych-rock tidigare. Det har känts lite för jobbigt, lite som att det blir lite för mycket av det goda.

Men det var innan jag lyssnade upp Wolf People. Ett skönt brittiskt band med allt vad det innebär. Det smakar Zeppelin, Hendrix fast från 2000-talet. Gitarrsolon, psykedeliska flöjt-ljud och alla attribut som hör genren till.

Deras senaste alster ”Steeple” släpptes 12/10 och har fullständigt tagit över i iPoden. Kan bara digga. Sitter och trummar på knäna, gungar med och bara nickar helt öppet på spårvagn och buss.

Krävs ett par lyssningar för att verkligen komma in. Men det är det värt.

Betyg: 5 av 7 K7’s – Applåder.

Det är Country, det är Blues, det är amerikanskt så det förslår. Och det funkar, när man känner saknaden efter de slitna bootsen från förr.

Ligger på Lost Highway Records, och har släppt 3 vax där. Andra sköna på LHR: Ryan Adams, Morrisey, Jayhawks och en massa andra legender.

Rolling Stone  skrev om Bingham’s första platta Mescalito (2007)  ”earns his sepia-toned album cover with a dusty wood-and-steel sound, and despite being twenty-five, sings like Steve Earle’s dad.”

Mannen från dalarna gör det igen, om än lite kortare än vanligt.

The Tallest Man on Earth, som han kallar sig har släppt fantastiska skivor sen 2006, och hörs överallt. Satt och kikade på senaste avsnittet av Hung (HBO) igår och hörde Kristian Mattssons ljuva stämma. Mäktigt.

Senaste släppet är en EP, Sometimes The Blues is Just a Passing Bird. Låter som vanligt magiskt, och kan bara sorteras in under kategorin: Bra skit.

Finns inte på Spotify, men där finns fullängdaren Shallow Graves. Värt en upplyssning.

Ser på tok för mycket på tv-serier, på tok för sent på nätterna. Men det finns uppsidor med att se för mycket tv-serier också. I alla fall om det brusar upp ett HBO i rutan när man smätter igång dem.

Inte bara att det borgar för kvalitet, det finns vansinnigt bra musikläggare som sitter och smusslar bland Entourage, Hung och andra sköna serier.
