Our favorite Stockholmian, Kanada, aka Johan Hammarbäck is releasing his album ”Paradise in Her Arms” today.
With his delicate yet experienced ways around the lyrics, he takes us in to his life, where divorce, love, breaking up and beeing a man are a few of the ingredients. An album, like his last release, that sounds and feels up close, personal and very intimate. Swedish Americana/Singer/Songwriter at its purest.
• Swedish singer-songwriter and bluesman Daniel Norgren startade out as a one-man-band. His latest record takes two steps back from the frusting-stomping and one big leap into divine folky-earth. This is Fleet Foxes in the hands of eternity. Pure genius.
Check out his newly released album Alabursy – and try the hollow, powerful song Like There Was A Door.
• Ellen Sundberg is a young & fabulous, great & swedish, americana super star in the making. Her new album White smoke and pines is out – produced by no less then the bearded wonder of Israel Nash on his farm outside Austin, Texas.
Check out great song Vägen är lång (The Road Is Long) who takes an epic turn switching from english to swedish in a quite stunning way. Way to go (grymt), Ellen!
• All the way from Lake Charles, Louisiana: Gill Landry. The man have been wandering together with Old Crow Medicine Show and is now on his bloody own – killing it every night on scene after scene. It’s an alt-country love affair.
Dig into Landry’s great new song Just Like You from his self-titled 3rd LP released 2015. It’s a golden spark of broken beauty.
• Swedish band The Amazing got new album Picture You out on the streets. From the aching vocals of singer Reine Fiske to the cinematic landscape of the band rolling in like bad weather on a sunny day; this is a wild emotional ride.
• Anything more cool than Lucinda Williams? Nope…this Queen of Louisiana got a fresh, badass Americana album out; Down Where The Spirit Meets The Bone. Check out great song Protection.
One half of the amazing duo Brother North, Freyr Flodgren, is creating some magnetically beautiful tunes in a solo project.
A man and his guitar may sound like a cliché, but in this case it is better than the cliché it self, it is like magic in sound. This video, shot at ”Liturgical Room” at Musikhögskolan in Piteå, way up north in Sweden, is pure and clean. A masterpiece in it’s simplicity. The sound of the strings. The voice in the empty room.
Nothing but love for this. Enjoy this Fridays best tune.
• Our old-time favorite singer/songwriter Joe Pug from Greenbelt, Maryland released his new album Windfall on March 10th. As always it’s a treat around the corner.
The folky troubadour recorded this bunch of songs in Lexington, Kentucky; and from the sound of first tune out – If Still It Can’t Be Found – the man struck gold.
• The danish wonder of Broken Twin came upon us last year; loaded like a freight train, flyin’ like an aeroplane, feelin’ like a space brain, one more time tonight.
Now her beautiful presence will return to Sweden for three gigs. Don’t miss her April 24 in Gothenburg, April 25 i Stockholm and April 26 in Malmö.
Friday, I’m in love! One of my all-time favorites brings this friday to the highest note!
Florence + The Machine has released the first single from the upcoming album ”How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful” (expected release 2015-06-01). The single ”What Kind of Man” is a great friday tune. Full of energy and emotions and with the characteristic sound that Flo’ has made us all love.
We are so much looking forward to this years Way Out West, where once again we will get to hang out with this magnificient woman! Couldn’t be more excited. August 13-15:th we will be there.
